Silk Road Group
Privacy notice
This notice covers the inquiry form on the contact page. It describes what the form does today and makes no promise beyond that.
What you enter
The form asks for four things, all required: your name, your email address, a subject and a message. Product or specification, quantity, standards and timing belong in the message.
Please do not include passwords, payment details or other sensitive personal data. The form has no file upload.
What is recorded
When you send an inquiry, the server records those four values as you entered them (leading and trailing spaces removed), a receipt ID, the date and time it was received and a checksum of the text (used only to recognise a repeated send of the same inquiry). The form adds nothing else to the record: no IP address, no device or browser details and no cookies.
You only see the receipt ID after the record has been written. If it could not be written, the form says so and keeps your text on the page so you can send it again.
Why it is recorded
Only so that Silk Road Group can read your inquiry about industrial sourcing, engineering or delivery and, if appropriate, reply to the email address you gave. It is not used for anything else by the form.
Where it is stored and who can read it
Each inquiry is one file in a private directory on the server that runs this website. The directory is outside the public web folder, the file can be read only by its owner, and there is no public or web-based admin page.
Server operators read the files directly on the server. The form does not email your inquiry, send it to another service or send you an automatic confirmation email, and this page does not promise a response time.
Limiting repeated submissions
To limit repeated submissions, the server keeps a short-lived counter in memory for each connection address. It is not written to your inquiry record and is cleared when the server restarts. Ordinary web server request logs may record connection details such as an address; the inquiry form does not add them to your record.
Retention, correction and deletion
No fixed retention period is promised here: a record stays until a server operator removes it. To ask for a record to be corrected or deleted, send a new inquiry through the contact form, quote your receipt ID and say what you would like done. No other contact route is published on this site.
